I slept well last night. Holy crap.

Some context: I haven’t been sleeping well for months. Work schedules changed, I’m sure getting older (hormones) also has something to do with it, but I’ve had a tough time. I’ve always been a light sleeper, ever since kiddo was born (2010), but the last few months have been incredibly hard. I’d compare my sleepless delirium to how it felt taking care of a newborn.

I have tried every sleepy gummy out there that doesn’t contain THC. Nothing was working, only making me physically restless while my brain was exhausted. On top of that, the sleeplessness was partly due to how light a sleeper I am; I hear everything in the house, and I mean everything. The pet water fountain gently dripping, the dog adjusting herself on the downstairs couch, everything.

I switched from gummies to magnesium sodas. I don’t know which helped more, but the switch was a good thing. I felt no restlessness. However, I still wasn’t sleepy.

Last night, I got out my old earplugs (I have a pair of LOOP Switch 1’s from a couple years back) and decided to give those a try. I didn’t wake up until hubby came home from work, which was quite a shock. Added bonus, I SLEPT IN. I didn’t miss my alarm, thankfully, but I was able to get a few more Zzzs on a day I didn’t need to get up for work.

The one caveat is that my ears are sore (I’m a side sleeper). I don’t know that I can do this consistently because of that.

What should my next step be?
